i bought a motor and thought that it was a jdm gsr w/type r lsd tranny, or so i thought, but now i 'm hearing that my motor is a ls vtec. i know that there is no way from telling if it is a ls block due to it was tap w/b18c(or so they said).
what i do know if when ever vtec hits BLACK SMOKE!! BLACK SMOKE!! out the exhaust. i'm thinking i have bad rings because my oil is running low every now in then. is it the RINGS or that its a LS vtec and has no OIL LINE TAP!!! ONLY BLACK SMOKE WHEN VTEC HITS!! PLEASE HELP ME OUT.

IS IT A GSR OR LS VTEC???

14.1 1/4 mile with my condition stock motor w/header and exhaust in a full interior eg hb on street tires. GOOD OR BAD??

 

check the engine code?? if its b18 with dohc head..for sure its lsvtec...simple as that.

 

if it didnt have a oil tap you;d have oil every where as soon as you started the car.. how can you not know what motor you buy thats just dumb..

 

look on the head, is it stamped P73? if so then u know u have a R head. if it's stamper PR3 its a B16 head and P72 is a GSR head.
and if theres not oil line run n from the back of the block to the head, then most likely its not an LS/Vtec.

also the black smoke is due to ur motor run n rich. so u have a fuel pump, FOR, bigger injectors in that motor??? u need to get ur car tuned.
if the smoke was blue then it would be oil problems. most honda's generally burn oil when u beat on the car

look at his grammar anyhow look at the stamp on the block and the stamp on the head, etc.......

 

well like i said i thought that it was a gsr but a friend of mine told me its a ls vtec due to it has a b18b block. like i said the block was TAP with b18c for some reason. and yeas when i drive the car there are oil stains on the front on my hood..when i check the engine, it seems as if it was coming from the block. so guys is there a way froim knowing if its a b18b block or b18c block...I NEED HELP HERE.

i currently have a walbro 195 lp fuel pump. i have the honda data s200 but have not yet tune car yet.

 

there is a stamp on the front of the engine..what do you mean it was TAP from a b18c??????????????????????????????

 

it means that it was erased and someone tap the b18c code on

wow... thats new to me.. now I know what "TAP with b18c" means.. good looking out dude...

for people TAPPING engine blocks...

 

NO I HAVE PAPERS FOR THE MOTOR. DON'T GIVE ME WRONG HERE.

 

how can u have "papers" for the motor when the code has been erased... you might have papers FOR A MOTOR..but its probably not that one...

the vin tag been removed too?

 

guys i still need help here...u guys think this is a ls block or gsr block..any help?
