Default New axels, alignment needed?

B16. I put in 2 new LS axels and now the car shakes a little and pulls to the left. Has anyone else experience this after an axel change? I'm pretty sure it needs an alignment done, but I want to make sure from others experience.

What the hell did you just say? I don't understand a damn thing you typed. Use some sentence structure and punctuation. That, might clear it up a bit.

Anyways, was everything torqued down to spec?

Does the car feel like it needs an alignment? If everything was torqued down you should be good. Although, the best way to find out is to just test it.

Get on a straight road and just drive, no hands on the wheel and feel for yourself.

Yes you need an alignment. Weither you torque everything down to specs or not whenever you take appart your suspension youll more then likely need an alignment, especially when you do an axle. Whenever i do an axle for someone i tell them right away to take it to the alignment and get it done.

I know that luserkid usually speaks the truth, but whenever I have replaced my axles (a few occasions), I have never needed an alignment. Like the mod said, make sure that everything is torqued down as it should be as well.

I thought you don't have to since the upper control arm doesn't really get touched...

Anyway, I just replaced my axles and my alignment is still good (steering is straight and doesn't vibrate)

you may not notice your car needs an alignment but the truth is that when you **** around with suspension. you need an alignment.

from my experience you need to do alignment everytime you dissassemble anything on the front end accept rotating parts. But you obviously you had to take some of the arms off to get shaft out so will have messed the alignment.

i have just had this same problem as i changed my gearbox and it was solved when i did alignment.

Depends on what had been taken off or moved when taking the shafts out. Their a couple off different ways to get shafts out.

Ease up Cooter. This isn't a chatroom to chat along with people you know. If you post something that has nothing to do with the original question, and want to talk privately with the user, PM him. We don't like private conversations to go back and forth on the thread itself.

If everything is tightened to spec and everything was mounted properly, you might need an alignment. Taking apart the knuckles, and especially the lower ball joint, will throw it out of spec.

If your car shakes and pulls to the left you need an alignment.

When was the last time you had an alignment? If you don't know when I would get an alignment.

My shop replaces axles all day, every day, and not one time has a car ever needed an alignment after we're done.

Does the car shake only when you hit the gas? I'll bet it does.

If it does then you got a **** axle my friend, and it's time to get another one. It happens - a lot. We use brand new axles because we'd get 3 shitty rebuilt ones in a row.

Torque steer under throttle, shaking under accleration - = shitty axle.

BTW:

SHAKING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AN ALIGNMENT - PERIOD.

I've had countless customers come in a request an alignment, then we do it, and then they say:

"Well my car still shakes on the expressway at 70+mph..."

Well no ****! That's called tire balance issues! People mistake vibrations for alignment all the time, but a car that pulls to the left or right even when the car is in neutral and coasting needs an alignment. People always failt to mention this when they come in, so I try to remember to always ask them why they think they need an alignment, and most of the time it's because of a shaking at certain speeds.

In this specific case I have a strong feeling you got a shitty rebuilt axle. Try and toss the car in neutral while going down the road and I'll bet your vobration and pulling (more the vibration though) goes completely away.

You very well might need an alignment, but I'm willing to bet your bigger issue is the axle.
