Default K&N

I recently installed a K&N filter (not intake) on my 2000 2.3 vtec. I know I sound like a puss but it's because my dad won't let me do any mechanical mods until the warranty runs out. Anyway I feel like I am actually losing power on top end, once I hit 110 it really loses a lot of acceleration. I have been to 127 before with not much effort. Has anyone else noticed a problem like this?
Also speaking of K&N, you should check out the air filter tests on http://www.bobistheoilguy.com the results are surprising.

Your dad probably won't let you do any mods to the car NOW because he realizes that his son is an idiot and is hoping by the time the warranty runs out you'll have more sense so you wont kill yourself.
doing 110 is very dumb on an open road and 127 is even dumber. On a track w/safety pple and guard rails,yeah..thats fine. What happens if you hit some lil animal thats going across the road? Ya gonna swerve and miss it? What if a tire blows out? Think you can keep control at over 100 mph? What happens when you hit a tree?

THINK!!! absolutely NO reason to go over 100 mph unless your racing on a track or your wife's giving birth.

the cops said my buddy was doin around 115 when his tire blew. that was a sh*tty funeral to go to. I dont particularly care what you do but I'm sure you have friends and family that do.

How old are you? Grow up before you kill someone. I'm sure glad you're not one of my son's friends.

maybe you were going down a slope when you hit that 127? but seriously i hope you don't always drive in the 100's .. if you do and you have an accident.. i hope you don't take anyone with you.

I thought most tires are built for speeds up to 90 mph. Or atleast mine is so I don't go that fast in them.

Really cheap tires do. Most tires are rated at least 124mph now.

The only thing that number really means i sthat the tire lasts a certain period of time at that speed (I think 10 min or something small like that).

Anyways, it should free up some of the restriction. I'm assuming either aerodynamics or a speed governor is the reason for your 110mph cutoff. I dont think a K&N filter will do that.

And if your dad wont let you modify anything than :: for you driving on stock tires at 127mph. Those things are awful and you could be in a shitload of trouble if something happened.

At those speeds there is almost no time to panick. At times like these you should worrry about getting some help up and down hills or getting better gas mileage. It just turned into 2.47 in my area.

I'd have to agree, if you're still living with your parents you have no reason for going that fast and no experience to qualify you to do so.

As for your other problem, after you install the K&N air filter, you want to reset the ECU. My friend once put one in his supercharged Nissan Desert Runner, ran like *** until I unplugged his battery for three minutes.

I know this is an old thread but yeah quit going that fast on public roads. I mean most of us at one time or another have done over 100 and most of us have learned how stupid it was and not to drive like that all the time.

at 118 mph the car's govenor kicks in. I do not see how you can make it to 127 when the car is physically limited to 118mph. You stated no mods until after warranty runs out so.........

You really need to think about what you are doing. 110 is retarded and that guy is right, 127 is just insane. Everything he said was true about possibilities that could kill you. My friend was racing on the highway and decided to take the shoulder between the wall and an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler saw him coming and tried to block him from using the shoulder. He ended up under the back two wheels of the truck. He's been gone for 7 months and everyday I wish that I had convinced him that I should drive. Don't make the same mistake my friend did and SLOW DOWN.
