when i have my ac on just idling and its like 85+ outside.. the engine temp jumps up and i quickly turn it off... the ac fan works but im not sure if the other fan is working.. when does the other fan turn on???

 

both fans should come on with a/c on .............put a/c on get a big screwdriver and hit the back side of the fan that does not work if it comes on you got a bad motor if not could be fuse, wiring , relay

 

i was told the other fan turns on when it feels like its heating up...

so if i start my car up right now (cold start) and i turn on ac, both fans should start working???

 

if you put a/c on car hot or cold both fans should come on ...........

 

I have the same problem on my 98 accord. Only one of my fans will turn on when i switch on the ac, haven't tried to hit the other fan w/ a screwdriver yet. Hopefully that will get it to start or else i probly have a busted fan motor.

 

Ok im pretty sure the one fan that wont turn on is messed up. I would hit the fan that didn't move w/ a screwdriver and it will spin although very slowly compared to the other fan, and it wont spin up when I turn the ac on again. Anybody know how much one radiator fan would cost?

 

dealer fan motor is around $ 230 if you get a non factory ( autozone, checker,) could be around 70-80 dollars
