Default Speed limiter question

Is there a way to disable the speed limiter without chipping the ECU? d15b7

How fast do you plan to take your Civic? I don't think your Civic has enough torque to go faster than 125 MPH.

I'm running it at Nelson Ledges on Sunday and it would kind of suck to keep hitting the limiter. I want to take it as fast as I can get it.

replacing or chipping the computer is the only way to do it but you're still asking for trouble.

And why would that be? If I were to remove the speed limiter my car would MAYBE top out 4th. Or is it because I have a d15b7? I know people like to bust on the d-series, but they must of been built right if mine can take the abuse I throw at it every other weekend when I autoX. That's with 156,000 w/ all original internals. I don't see how it could get me in trouble.

Do you think a bone stock D15B7 will have enough power to get up that high? I'm just asking...

I will take a stand and say it does not have enough power to top out in 4th gear. A long *** transmission mated to a lack of horsepower and torque will not get you goin that fast.

Being that my suspension is not stock I am able to enter and exit turns at a higher speed so yes, I do think it may be possible. I also have a rear spoiler

I've had it 110 and it was still climbing. Of course that was on the highway WITH NOBODY ELSE AROUND and I know where the police sit.

But wouldn't a rear spoiler bring the *** more down and the front more up causing less traction up front? Get yourself an EX transmission, then maybe.

It probably only took about 3 miles. When I had my d16, I got it up to maybe 120, but it took awhile. I don't even try with the B- cuz I know it is faster and that it has a rev limiter at about 120.

i know all 96-00 civics except the 99-00 have speed governers at 120.... all 92-95 civics cx-dx-lx-vx have speed governers at 120.. the ex coupe and si hatch dont... i had my needle straight up and down.. d16z6 motor with a dx tranny ( yes i know it sucks ) with the lovely p28 ecu.. well its gone now so i have the jdm p30 with a speed governer at 130 and anyway once you are over a hundred who says the gauge is accurate anyway..

and if you string your damn gears out to hit 120 dude its going to **** your motor up... so just chip your ecu and learn the hard way
