trannys leaking oil.. dont know where its coming from
i have a 92 hatch with a '00 b16a2 swap and my cars leaking oil from the tranny area.. took it to a transmission shop today and they told me it was from the oil pan.. i didnt believe them so i went over to the shop told them to check the oil level on my motor and they checked it and it wasnt leaking any oil.. i looked at the tranny and there's no cracks.. what could it be? i was told i might need a new seal where the axle goes into the tranny.. what other possibilites could it be? its only leaking by the tranny.. and its leaking bad..

LOL yeah I have layed in a puddle when doing trans jobs. Smelt like MTF for a couple days.

It sounds to me like you are trying to say what is wrong, not really asking it. If a shop tells you it's the oil pan, then it probably is. How can you tell if you have an oil leak by checking the level? You got me on that one dude, or do you have an uber-accurate dip stick that can detect the level within a ml and also compenstating for oil temperature?
OK, as for a crack in the tranny? Doubt it, probably a gasket/seal.

Try wiping down the area until it's as clean as you can get it, drive the car a few days and see where it's coming from. If you're getting oil up above the pan, then it's probally not the pan. Just try to determine where the leak is that way.

its not usual for a tranny to leak, it can happen, but usually out the axle seals or something. that is unless your rear main seal is fucked (behind flywheel), oil can come from there.
I would be willing to bet its your oil pan gasket.
Like ricey said, wipe clean, drive, inspect, repeat.

well hmm theres puddles of oil under my car.. my car sat there at that shop overnight the guy himself thought it was the oil pan. he checked the dipstick and oil was fine.. wiped off all the oil started the car let it idle.. took it around the block came back and no oil around the oil pan.. mostly on back part of motor by axles.. im thinkin its the axles seals.. guy said it could be the same thing but he said he has to take off the tranny and wants to charge me 650 for labor then charge whatever else to fix it.. so i took my car back and im just wondering if theres any other possibilities besides the axle seals..

i got my swap done at fnwerkz performance and i think they put engine oil in my tranny.. so thats why its hard to tell where my cars leaking from because i cant tell if its oil from the trans or engine..
