Default best msd setup???

Hey, I have a 98 jdm b18b with a obd1 p75 ecu in my 2000 civic coupe! I have cold air inatke, 4-2-1 headers and 2 1/4" cat back....I need more higher RPM power and I was thinking of msd!!!

What's the best way to go???

Thanks Pat!

The best ignition set-up for your car is the stock one. Unless you have serious fuel and air delivery more spark in itself won't help the power, and the OE ignition system has been proven to support any bolt-ons power you can throw at it.

High rpm power?

I suggest a good set of cams and cam gears, a programmable ECU set-up such as Uberdata, Crome, Hondata, and headwork to support the rev limit you want, such as upgraded springs and new retainers.

Then have it all tuned and there's your big gains.

If you are looking for a cheap instant higher rpm power solution there isn't really one, but cam gears and a programmable ECU on a dyno will certainly be the best first step IMO.

I was under the impression that a new distributaor with msd would of givin me more consistent higher rpm spark = stronger higher rmps???

Thanks for the input!!

Well that's what they advertise, but I've never seen conclusive results to support those claims.

You'd be surprised at how well the Honda ignition system works. Perhaps on other makes and models the MSD does good, but Hondas and Acuras are set up very well from the factory. It's only after you add tons more fuel and air (ala boost) that you really need to upgrade the Honda ignition system.

I've been boosted for over 2 years now on various setups and all have been on a stock igniton.

ive been through a couple different setups, crane lx91 coil and crane cap....didnt like it at all. i had to gap my plugs so small to stop misfiring it was insane.....

now i run an msd digi6 and blaster ss coil because im running higher horsepower.

i would NOT under any circumstances change the ignition unless your running at the very least 400whp. honda ignition is the ****

I meant lots of boost with much bigger injectors, etc. etc.
