Default emmisions question

if my cat blew out... is there any way i will pass emmitions at the ref w/ stock exhaust and intake?

If a cat has too much raw fuel running through it, it can cause the cat to melt...

the honey comb just kinda melts... leaves this bizarre looking hard goo in there... clogs it up and robs performance. The goo looks kinda like dried 2part epoxy.

It happened to my catco almost exactly 1 year after purchase (1 year waranty) and I was told it would happen about 6 months before that by a rediculously knowledgable tech... he says the aftermarket companies use the cheaper material for making cats... they work but they almost always go bad... generally only car manufacturers use the more expensive material (platnum I think).

POSTER:

It depends on what state you're in... it's worth a shot because even if you fail you have some time to get an aftermarket cat which will most likely give you a passing result... although it may not last very long.

im in socal and i have to go to the state referee... i got a ticket for load exhaust non carb leagal intake... will they still make me smog it? i put the stock exhaust and intake back on... im gonna go tomorrow and see how things play out
