OT: Have any of you rented an exotic car?

I'm seriously thinking about this...
I'll be in Vegas for my first time ever June 9-13. Anyone want to meet up? (I was scheduled to go with 3 of my buddies...but then they all bitched out and decided to bring their wives/gf's...leaving me to be the ONLY single guy there.

Heh, vegas kicks ***...there's a few of those places, you see vipers and NSXs and the like alot...probably be a kick. When i was young, we went skiing out west, and there was a place that rented ferraris for mountain driving....THAT would be fun.
May you win mad bank for car parts!

Todd do it, but get the insurace, my dad goes to ceaser's once a year, and always rents a ferrari, i dont want to know what else goes on out there. but I would love to go to vega one day. now that im 21 it would be fun
Good thing for most of you guys... The minimum age for the super exotic cars is now down to 25... It used to be 30!
Mu choice would be:
1)F355
2)Z-06
3)NSX
I take the NSX just to complete the list! I drove every production Honda available in the US. I still think the car is beautiful but under power compare to what's available these days. The new V8 scheduled for 2003 (if I remember correctly) should put the car back in the same league.

my boss left me his F355 for the week, but as a daily driver i like the R...
If you had both in your garage, you would prefer to drive the R?
If you take your Ferrari to the dealership for service... prepare to pay.

ITR = cheap to maintain
F355 = expensive to maintain

It's all relative...if you can afford to own a $120k+ F355, then you can afford the $1k oil change at the Ferrari dealership... I'm not saying I would never drive the R if I had both, but think of it this way: If you had an ITR and a Civic DX, which one would you prefer to drive? If you say the Civic, you are lying...

if i had both, the R would be the daily driver, no doubt.
i dont think thats a very good comparison. a ~22k car and a ~12K car are not quite as different as a ~22k and a 122k......

My point is that if you can afford the ITR, you aren't going to prefer to drive a lesser car...or would you? I sure as hell wouldn't! As soon as I can comfortably afford an NSX or 360 Modena, you can bet your *** I'll be driving one!
At that point, the R will just be transformed into my dedicated track beater.
do not get me wrong...the F355 is a bad **** car...the sound of the tubi exhaust is awesome.
it revs at approx. 4300 at 80 mph in 5th...sound familiar?
it gets revved and challenged by all...sound familiar?
its exhaust sets off car alarms...sound familiar?
and my boss complains about my "rice-rocket"
BUT the shifting is much more difficult than the R(rough here in LA traffic) so i just leave it in the garage---now on the other hand had he taken my advice and bought the 360-modena instead---I WOULD BE IN IT ALL DAY.
unfortunately, the R must sleep outside for the rest of the week---i worry more about it than the ferrari being outside---is that sick?

ok well that makes sense, ha when i can afford another Porsche, i'll be buying an Evo 7, WRX STi, or S4 for daily driver duties

Todd,
I rented their NSX last April. It was the most miserable, beat-up NSX I've ever seen (and I've seen lots and lots of NSX's). Judge for yourself:
1. spare tire tread worn to tread bars - possibly driven on without inflating
2. spare tire gouged along lip of rim, both sides
3. spare tire not bolted down - wing nut missing
4. spare tire bumpers missing (2 of 3)
5. hood hinge bracket loose
6. power door unlock doesn’t work
7. stereo cassette won’t reverse
8. air pump missing
9. lug wrench missing
10. lug nut size mismatched (one not 19 mm)
11. mismatched tires - falken on front, nitto on rear
12. shift **** loose
13. VIN windshield plate missing
14. door sill VIN plates missing
15. engine compartment release **** removed
16. coolant tank cap leaks
17. dashboard finish peeling
18. rear bulkhead trim piece loose
19. trim in footwell loose
20. gas tank filler flap won’t open
21. engine compartment strut bar missing
22. front lip spoiler missing
23. rear end body damage improperly repaired - panels don’t meet
24. interior trunk release button not working
25. interior light not working
26. traction control off warning light not working - not sure whether TCS working or not
Keep in mind that I wasn't doing an inspection on the car; these are just things that I happened to notice were problems.

Does an oil change at a Ferrari Dealership really cost $1,000?????????????
If that's true, I don't wanna know how much a major maintenance service is.
