Getting a thicker HG will lower your compression. I don't see any relation how this can make more power ?! If anything, its quite the opposite!

The reason it would be a good idea to lower the compression is because it will be much safer to run more boost and easier to tune. I am guessing this is a daily driver on pump gas, so lower compression is your friend. You probably won't notice much low end difference anyways.

I'd concentrate on the tuning and managemen aspect and keep the compression for your AutoX experience. The on/off boost response would be a bit easier to navigate w/ the normal compression of the Type R. Just don't skimp on the tuning aspect, please.

i made 230 whp with a 9:1 1.6L at 7 psi. 250 should be no problem.

It should not be a problem producing that kind of power with what you have, but your issue will be reliability. Like others before me replied, a good tune/tuner will be essential to reliable horsepower. If it were me and I were keeping the internals stock, I would opt for the thicker headgasket to drop the compression ratio a bit, just so you can A either run more boost, or B not have to worry about detonation as much. Good Luck
