Default Chipped P28 in D16y8 > code 22 won't start

Hey all,

just got a chipped P28. Put it in the car and it got a CEL 22 VTEC pressure valve. The old harness still has the VAFCII hooked up and I think this may be causing a problem but not sure. Any ideas?

Found out it was the VAFC wire that had come disconnected. Kinda figured it so.

New problem though, too much fuel. The spark plugs are wet there is sooo much fuel.

Did you get the ecu tuned? Or you running on a basemap?

Basemaps are usually made so the car runs really rich, so if its just a basemap.....get your car tuned.

its a custom basemap made by MTBER and we have started to email back and forth about it.

Thing is I expect a basemap to run rich, but it doesn't run yet at all. Once it does get going I contacted Mind-Eracer from pgmfi.org and he said he could help out with the tuning. But its going to be hard to get it over there without it running.

I did get a Rom burner (burn1) and an extra chip so maybe If I get the bin file I can use the fuel mutiplier and knock down the fuel some more.

I ran into the same problem with my basemaps. I was running a walbro 255 and RC 450's and the car would not idle at all. Found out the stock FP was being overrun. Installed B&M AFPR and allowed my Y7 to idle (a little high but it idles now w/o shutting off) Cheap too. Got it from GSCMotorsports.com and the FP gauge from alchemist.

evreybody kept telling me "It's a basemap, it won't idle well. "Well, it wouldn't even run at all [roll-eyes]

If you unplug your electrical connector to the fuel pump and crank the engine a couple of times at it finally idles, you'll know you will need an adjustable FPR.

Britton,

I am glad to see that you figured out the code 22 issue was with your vafc wiring.
I hope the new bins I sent ya help you out :-)

If you don't have a fuel pressure guage & you are running the walbro 255lph HIGH PRESSURE fuel pump, your fuel pressure maybe sky high hence part of the issue you are seeing.

Anyways, feel free to contact me with any questions you have.

Thanks,
