Just as the titles says... i sometimes lose vtec when im driving mostly in 2nd but today it happened in first? but not all the time...

Clutch is fine
Car is warmed up properly
Not throwing a check engine light
Stock cx radiator...but not overheating

intake
Intake manifold
Hondata intake manifold gasket
Spoon header
Worldsport exhaust
Uberdata Tuned

What would cause this...

Is it the actual solenoid?
--malfunction?
--bad wiring connection?

My Tune?
--Whats too much advance on the ignition maps
--my intake air temp was a tad high during the tune-- i blame it on the radiator but i know others who have the same setup with no problems

Any sensors?--im not throwing a code but could one be going bad?

any help is appreciated.... I <3 my vtec

 

Change your oil! If that doesn't work test your solenoid.

 

oil was just changed like 5 days ago... how do you check the solenoid??


Added info by the way....

I it seems to only happen when i ease into the gas...even if im full throttle by vtec. When i just mash it from where ever it engages...


any and all other suggestions are welcom

 

Hook a light up to your vtec solinoid and see if it is always lit while vtec is engaged..That is a way to test your solinoid.

 

haha so that gay vtec light that is sold on ebay might actually serve a purpose
ok well its worth a shot... i mean it engages sometimes so i know it works but its weird how it doesnt work others...

 

uppity help! its so weird only happening when i ease into it

1/4 throttle by 3 grand
1/2 throttle by 4 grand
full by 5 no vtec? anyone have this experience before?

 

have you checked the screen in the solenoid?

 

ya i pulled the top off the vtec solenoid yesterday and the filter seemed fine.... I didnt take it out though because i didnt know if you are supposed to do that?

My guess is that it's engaging just fine. You just don't hear a noticeable sound difference because your easing into it rather than the quick cross over during WOT.

 

I wish.... its clearly slower when i ease into it....

and the weird thing about it is if i keep my foot at like 1/4 or 1/2 and dont ease into it at all sometimes it will engage...clear sound difference

 

so? anyone? this is really annoying i went to race some kind in an is300 and as i eased into it nothing we were even and it was embarrassing.
