b16a trouble
i have a problem please help. just swaped a b16a in my 89 rex. every thing went perfect, i start it up and i have 4 codes on my ecu 6,9,10,23. i do my research and find out they are, INTAKE AIR TEMP SERSOR, COOLANT TEMP SENSOR, KNOCK SENSOR, CYLINDER POSITION SENSOR. so i changed my coolant temp sensor and and bought a brand new distrubuter (something i needed to do, i was told by two different shops) and wired my knock sensor to pin out b19, and got a new intake air temp sensor, but nothing the codes are still on the ecu. i was told that my wiring had to be bad. if anybody has any suggestions please help thanks

Usually multiple codes are a sign of a bad ground..
Make sure the wiring harness is grounded
at the thermostat housing..
Also, did you clear the codes? If not,
pull the hazard fuse under the hood
for at least ten seconds to do this..

the grounds are all there i went over that, and i was told that if you disconect the battery for 10 minutes it should clear the ecu. i did it and still there is that all there could be
what do you mean faulty connection. i just went out there and wanted to see how it ran and my v tech wont kick on any more, the car sat for a week or so and before vtech worked fine. my cars rpms are a 630 i s that normal im allways used to seeing them at like 800 or some where around there. if some one can give me suggestions that would be great im i really miss my car. thanks

yes i do have the vafc connected at this time. vtech work like it should before i parked it which was a week ago. now that i wanted to get a idea of how it ran the vtech wont kick on anymore.
Get a chiltons, goto the ECU, check that all the wires that should be grounded are actually grounded.. I always use a snap-on computer safe test light.
INTAKE AIR TEMP SERSOR, COOLANT TEMP SENSOR, KNOCK SENSOR, CYLINDER POSITION SENSOR
i believe 3 if not all of those have the same plug! i had multiple codes when i first started my b16, switched those plugs around and what do u know no more codes! the coolant temp sensor and vtec wires have the same type plug, try switching those. intake air temp and knock sensor have the same plug, switch em. idk about the cylinder po sensor, nor do i know anything about the vafc, but try this and get back to us

k i notice that my vafc is reading my rpms at 600 at idle and my gauge cluster says 800 but when i drive my car the vafc is a 1000 or more rpms off. my vtech is set to kick in at 4200 but when i drive the rpms wont read any higher than 3800 but my cluster says 6000 + what could that be my vafc, my distributer my ecu. thanks for any info you guys can provide.
