Default Gas filler in the door jam

i've seen this before on a crx.. i've got my stock gas door shaved and i'm debating where to put the filler. but does anyone know how safe it would be to put the gas filler cap recessed in the door jam by the latch? ive seen seen some crazy **** with people lighting their cars on fire from getting in and out of their cars while pumpin gas from the static electricity... any suggestions would be cool.

All I know is...I saw that done on a rex before, but he had to relocate it for safety reasons.

Great idea. But wouldn't the actual filler hole would be inside the car then?

to run the car legally on the street, it is required to be accessable from the exterior of the car. I think they may 'consider' the filler in the door jam to not be exterior. You can obviously get away with certain things, but depending on your state of registration, they may require inspections. You could hide the filler behind one of the rear facing corner peices just above the tail lights. But make sure you use a flex section (fuel safe rubber hose) so it bends in case of a rear end crash. You could put a hinge on that corner peice or something...
