Default Laggy 2nd and 3rd gear after startup

It only does this for the first time that I shift into those gears after the car has been sitting for a while. I drive a 95 coupe and whenever I shift into 2nd gear, I get to about 2K and all the sudden it starts "stumbling" and it feels like the motor/tranny is sputtering along and then it kinda snaps out of it at about 2300. I shift into 3rd and it starts to do the same thing. For the rest of the drive, everything feels perfect. Anyone had this problem or know what could be causing this?

Look for oil in your distributor cap.

If your distributor base seal is seeping oil into the cap then it will coagulate when cold and cause stuttering for a short time and then go away as the head warms up and the oil softens. While your in there you also get to inspect he othe culprits, the cap and rotor. Well worth the time it takes to unscrew 3 screws.

Spark plug wires that are going out often times also have a low/mid RPM spot when they stumble and then smooth out.

I checked the dizzy, and there was very slight traces of oil lining one of the screw holes. I believe this is from when I blew my head gasket. I've read about replacing the o-ring, and thats it's really cheap and a good house keeping task, so I think I'll do that sometime next week. But BUMP for any more ideas? Is it possible that that it's something with transmission or anything like that?
