Default Bounce Shift

I have another thread where I talked about my motor hesitating. Anyway I wanted to rev it up and see where it felt weak or lost power. Anyway when going into 3rd i grinded the gears pretty bad. I shifted the same way as normal but it kind of bounced before i got it in gear. I am changing the tranny fluid this week, but do you think that will do anything if the syncros themselves are bad ? Unless I use syncromesh. What do u guys think ?

Shifter moves forward and backward? (toward the dash, then away) when you come off the throttle and step back on it. Am i right?

my mom's camry does this (91 ) and my guess is a bent shifter fork

I go to put it into gear and it locks me out of the gear. Its not always only every once and awhile usually if i shift quickly and sometimes going into 1st gear from a stop or roll. Its not really a bounce its more of a blockage or locking out of the gear for some reason. Syncros ?

most first gears wont let you in unless you are damn close to a stop, or just learn how to play with the clutch....

it could be a syncro, but my guess is that you just have something jammed between things on the gear somewhere....

Is it easy to get into first gear when you're stopped (and I mean dead stop)?

95% of the time yes. But every once in awhile it wont go into 1st. Usually if i put it back in neutral let out the clutch and try it again it does. I have no idea why this is? I kinda pump the clutch.

I think your issue is a normal one. The reason why your tranny locks out is because it is a safety feature to prevent the user from messing up the tranny. Same with reverse, if you try to go into reverse, you will probably get in 95% of the time. Go ahead and try it...
