Default Code 9 CYP - cylinder sensor

Hey guys im working all the bugs out of my swap and i got the car running but now i get a code nine (9 short flashes) dizzy was replaced last week.

the car idles nice and revs fine however when trying to go WOT under load the Ce light flickers and the car bucks and bogs .


Ideas?

How many grounds should i have? and at what locations?

Valve cover, tranny, the wiring harness ground by the t-stat housing. Make sure they are all clean and tight.

Hmm, mine throws a code 9, but runs perfectly. Its a sensor inside the dizzy, i know that mine throws it because the timing belt is one tooth off. Check yours?

Cam timing and ignition timing are both correct I just swaped out the new dizzy from Dist. king with an used one and the Ce light went away .

However now when I went to test drive it and tried to go WOT it breaks up and stumbles around 2/4k and 6/7k

Any ideas?

just curious was the car a dx before? never mind I read your sig, how did you convert to MPFI?

Ok, so i'm guessing you did all the wiring. I finished my swap which was going from stock DX to OBD1 B-series. I got a code 9 also, i knew i had the wiring right, i am very confident in my wiring, so i checked my wiring like 6 times, i was right, then, i switched the Cylinder sensors wires around, just to make sure, code 9 was gone, i believe honda wrote the manual wrong or my conversion harness was wrong or something, becuase my wiring was technically correct, anyway switch the wires at the dizzy for the CYP sensor since it is very easy with a very small precision screwdriver, and see if it works. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me. I swore I had all the wiring right, but I swapped the CYP wires around for the heck of it and code 9 went away.
I'd be a bit skeptical of that Distributor King dizzy as well. Mine took a crap on me after less than a year. I'm rocking an old OEM 92 gsr one now with no problems whatsoever.

I dont like wiring makes my head hurt

I got my harness from Rywire I switched the dizzy out and put in an used oem unit and the code 9 went away. '

They only wiring i did was the 4 wires in these instructions

This harness will add MPFI to your DX chassis as well as all wires necessary for VTEC.
You will need a very small precision screwdriver to extract the ECU pins.
Soldering, or butt connectors are not recommended.
All modification will be done to the existing harness, not the OBD0 to 1 Jumper.

The MPFI subharness is made with a 4 pin plug for easy engine harness removal.
The VTEC wires are soldered into the JKOBD Pig tail if purchased from us.
If you are soldering the wires to the JKOBD Pig tail, the colors do match.

Insert the pins into the obd0 side ecu plugs at the appropriate locations.

A (White Plug) B (Black Plug) C (Black Plug)

This chart will only work if you have the wires coming out at you with the clip side up.

- Remove any wires in B10 or B12

- De-pin C1 and plug it into B10s spot
- De-pin C2 and plug it into B12s spot

- Connect the Red wire into pin A3 (#2 injector) (remove existing pin)
- Connect the Yellow wire into pin A7 (#4 injector) (remove existing pin)

- Connect the Blue wire into pin C1 (CPS)
- Connect the Purple wire into pin C2 (CPS)

Please note that harnesses done prior to 3/17/05 may have different colors
Refer to the instructions sent with your harness or call tech support.

Refer to the JKOBD harness instructions for plug wire colors such as: VTEC, VTEC Oil, Knock (Optional depending on ECU), 4-wire O2, IAB (Optional depending on Intake Manifold). Instructions for how to wire up your switch to check engine codes are also in the JKOBD instructions.

Warning: tape off all exposed pins so they can not be shorted.

should i try switching around the Cps wires? i dont see how rywires instructions can be wrong
