88 Accord Can't Turn Left - Fuel Cuttoff!
I have a 1988 accord that has a unique problem. It developed progressively on its own over the course of about six months. First just once in a while, then more drastically, and finally to the point of impairment.
If I turn left enough for momentum to be a factor, the car begins to stall or dies completely. As the problem began, I was able to jerk the car to the right and it would come back after a few seconds.
It behaves as if it is running out of fuel; sputtering and idling, but no hope in acceleration. I've had a mechanic look it over and he replaced the fuel pump. He also opened the carburetor and thought he found the problem with a loose jet. I've just got the car back and now it totally dies on a good left turn. Before it would come back to life, now... I had it towed home.
I love my Accord and it's runs like a champ. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

does this happen no matter how full the fuel tank is? that could be a problem. have the fuel filters been replaced? is the fuel bowl volume correctly adjusted?

Same for all fuel levels and I changed the rear and front filters.
I'm not sure about the float levels, but I'm pretty sure the mechanic looked at that (of course, not positive).
Do you think the float level would respond to the left/right trigger?

sounds like your oil pressure is droppping maybe. then oil sump is on the drivers side so turning left would make it go from the baffle, lowering pressure. the ECU seeing this probably shuts off the motor to prevent damage.
can you make it go in the turn by giving it steady gas? this would keeop the pressure up.

Accelerating seemed to make it happen faster. I avoided the problem sometimes by coasting through intersections, then gassing it once I was straight again. 1/2 the time it would still have a hint of the problem, but as long as I had speed, a little jerk to the right made it come back online.
The oil pressure thing sounds like it could be there if it causes the engine to reduce fuel suppply. I know it didn't shut off the engine until recently. Most of the time I've had the problem, it would go to an idle and stall if I tried to give it gas. It behaved as if it was running out or on a trickle of fuel.

Drastically sounds like a fuel related problem, T in a pressure guage to the fuel line and tape it to the windshield, if pressure stays up then it is in the float bowl.
