Today while driving in the rain I noticed my car was acting funny...no power...I pulled over and it almost died...I check my cold air intake (took it off) and wtf water comes out...I left it off and drove it home...It seemed fine but I didnt want to gun it since I had no filter for about 1000 yards...could my motor be good still or is this the end? I hear about motors hydro locking is that when it wont turn over (please explain)...I also read that people change their spark plugs and their motors are fine...any help at all would be great!!!!! thanks in advance

 

my buddies ar took in some water but it immediately seized and smoked the entire road ...

 

should mine be ok since i drove it home?

 

When you hydrolock you'll know it. Sounds like you just got lucky. Remember.....water doesn't compress.....thats why it bends rods.

 

if i were you i would take the plugs out and unplug the dizzy and crank the motor over a few times... this will get any water out of the cylinders... then do an oil change... if you made it home and it was still running you should be ok

it all depends how much water u took in an if it seemed fine after u took the intake off u might just get lucky

 

When you hydro-lock itll happen instantly and youll notice. i think u stopped just in time, cause if it was acting funny u mightve had water in the filter and werent getting any air to the motor.

another thing to do is by a bypass valve!

I did this in my pick up it works, esp. after washing my motor. But the problem with honda's are the plugs are directly on top, and the sleeves where the plugs insert too; wont water be just going back down to the cylinder? I wonder if you could take all your plugs off, then turn cyl 1 to TDC then use some kind of wet vac figure out how to insert it inside the plug sleeves to get the water, then go turn to cyl 3, then 4 then 2, and so on. what you guys think? too much work? or will it work?

i bought my 93 lx it had a second motor, well whoever put it together, got OIL in the stock intake hose, i drove it a whole month!!!! before putting my intake on it, so i didnt even know. good thing it was oil and was thicker, i checked the TB and no oil in there that i could see. whoooo close call

trust me if your car makes anything for compression that water is coming out whether it be a honda or v8

 

Exactly why I wont buy a CAI. When my **** blows, if I got money &gt; H22, if not I'll drive it off a bridge before going back with D series.

well instead of driving it off a bridge just hit me up... ill take it off your hands

 

dont forget to change your oil, water makes foam in an oil pan

Thanks for the replies again...Took out the plug and turned it over...then did a oil change...She seems to be doing just fine...I was for cure not going back to a d series..damn I guess I got lucky!!
