Default Manifold swap IAC wiring problem

ok, this is kind of a weird setup, not what is usually done. So please read carefully.

d16y7 Motor
d16y8 Wiring harness
d16y7 ECU
d16y8 Manifold (manual, IACV on back of manifold)

I have searched everywhere and for forever. All guides/info I have found arent really relavent for some reason. The weird swap is because I have a 98 EX that came with a d16y8 but I took it out and used a d16y7 cause I don't want the vtec (boost coming).

I have already moved the pin from A12 to A14 (BLK/BLU) but what about the 3rd wire (OGN) do I need to add it somehow to the 2wire connector and/or ECM/PCM?

I'm completely lost on this subject, ive tried so long to get it right but now im lost. So if anyone could help me out and tell me how to do this it would be great! Thanks

I have the 2wire connector/harness (y8) and already pluged the wire from A12 to A14. It is still throwing CEL with code 14 (IAC) and reving up and down at about 2000rpm or so.

Actually from reading that and the other ff-squad.com info i can see that I had it right to begin with in the A14 position. I didn't have any problems with the unsteady RPM's like I do now.. but it still threw a IAC code. What could be the problem?

Yeah, it's a wierd swap that isn't usually done because it CAN'T be done. Had you searched, you would have seen that ECUs that control a 3-wire IACV (which is what your Y7 ECU does) will NEVER...EVER...EVER control a 2-wire (which is what's mounted on the back of the manifold).

You can unplug the Y8 2-wire IACV (which just disables it allowing NO air to bypass it), slap on the Y7 throttle body with rotor exchanged from the Y8 throttle body (so the throttle cable works) and continue to use the Y7 ECU.

Unplug the IACV from the connector or at the ECU? When I do this is it just going to run normal then? And still throw a CEL?

It'll run normal if you do the other stuff I mentioned.

Why would it throw a CEL?

You're (after doing what I mentioned) using a Y7 ECU with the Y7 throttle body (with Y8 rotor) which has a 3-wire IACV mounted on it that is now wired up and properly connected to the ECU that can control it.

You need to have the IACV connected up. Obviously then, you're going to have to add whatever wiring is needed to accomplish this. Since you're using a Y8 harness which lacks the 3rd Orn wire, you'll need to add it along with the 3-wire IACV connector.
