Default What is this J's Racing* part, and is it useful...?

I found htis pic on tunerzine.com while looking at some of the articles:

It seems like and "engine damper" or something to make the engine have no tilt but im not sure....

Seems like a good way to get rid of wheel hop but can anyone clarify this? And is it worth buying?

Thanks

Here you go. For your sake, I hope you crap money. I bet they work I mean in theory it would be like stiffer mounts. I have no first hand experience though sorry.

Damn good info.

I saw some company made them for like 120 i think it was, not bad, i mean i would think they help because of how much the motor does move....

but thanks

Yeah, well you pay for the name. I would just invest in some traction bars if you are looking for less wheel hop.

Yeah, i still have my stock cx motor, but plan on swapping a b18 soon, so im hoping to get all the parts i need and have it all put in at once, i heard that i should just get some good hasport mounts....so i am going that route for now....

Just curious because i have been watching some dyno videos and i see how much the motor does move and this piece prob stabalizes the motor very well

We'll see, i may just buy a cheaper one

Yup I and sell them.

Here are the specs of the NRG engine dampers:

Overall length (mount to mount) = 7 inches (+/-1/4 inch adjustment)
Mounting hole size = 10 mm (.3937 … approx. 3/8 inch)
Maximum stroke = +/-3/8 inch (no preload)
Preload adjustment = 0 – 3/16 inch (max stroke = +/- ¼ inch at max preload)
Maximum shock load (momentary) = 2000 lbs.
Maximum continuous load = 500 lbs.
High quality hardened steel reinforced Heim joints
Body: 6061-T6 Aluminum
Maximum Recommended HP = 500 with Energy Suspension Mounts

And these are the benefits:

Improved off-the-line acceleration
Reduced wheel hop
Improved vehicle stability
Reduced shock loads on driveshaft components
Smooth shifts
Reduced wear on exhaust system joints
Less vibration transmission to the driver compared to polyurethane motor mounts.
Less shock load, compared to torque straps and chains.
Reduces motor movement – decreases the chance of motor parts rubbing against
the hood and frame

do they really help all these things? i mean i see how it would 'stiffen' things up a bit is there really any noticable improvment though, like if you do a double blind survey would people really pick out the car with this thing installed. i doubt it

They're advertising them so they got to say those stuff

Pretty steep price for what it is though

Out of interest, how long do they last, J's Racing had an issue with the dampers, not sure if it's fixed now, but the inside valve use to give way resulting in failure after 6 months to 1 year in use?

I've seen these before.

I never considered one until I realized how close my alternator is to the metal in my B18B EF. Kinda scary

Oh thank god. I ordered one with aj-racing. Yeah I paid nowhere near 360. What other mounts do u have on your ride. I got a supercharger on mine so the motor moves a good amount. I was looking for some motor mounts and some other things.

Ok right on, I'll try doing that but I'm missin the lower torque mount the ac bracket and another one. Pisses me off that I'm a victim of a bad motor swap..

it is a motor damper and yes you can tell a difference, the more power your motor has the bigger the difference. main diff is engine response time, but then again only if you dont have any slack in you throttle cable

I drive my stock CX, for now of course, and when i give it gas or start out in first i can feel the motor mounts all worn out and feel how the motor moves alot, i can only imagine how much this would help....

even with a nice motor, like a b-series you still see tilt on dyno's and stuff, so i bet this piece works great...

i need a swap first geez
