2 ohm or 4 ohm
more power or what? looking at some alpines for my new sound system setup. currently running 2 channel amp
Edit: the subs are type-s and my current amp is the JL 300/2. i was using 1 w7 now i'm switch to two type-s

alpine what, subs? Also what is your amplifier rated at? If you buy a DVC 4ohm then you have the option for either 2 or 4. need some omre details for what you have and what you want.

Modified by kb12 at 4:11 PM 7/15/2005</TD></TR></TABLE> The RMS power handling on the Alpine type S subs is 300watts each, the JL amp you have is 150watts RMS x 2 into 1.5-4 ohms, [stereo] it is not stable below 3 ohms when bridged, so you have an amp that will give you about 300watts RMS mono into 3-8 ohms, although it would work, it really is not enough to run two 300 watt subs.

I have had more then one JL sub re-coned, we have a shop down in Vancouver that will re-cone any speaker, and do a very good job, and unless the re-coning kit from JL is diff. then the original, they are using generic ones, but they work well

I thought you might be able to order replacement parts directly from JL. Some of the high excursion woofers like kicker I believe, will sell the cones and surround. Then end user is able to replace these parts by themselves. I think kicker calls it "SPAIR" which is just the surround, cone, and spider in one replaceable piece.

I think kicker calls it "SPAIR" which is just the surround, cone, and spider in one replaceable piece.</TD></TR></TABLE>You may be right, I have never tried to order a re-coning kit from them, I have gotten kits from Alpine, Kicker, JBL, Orion and generic kits from the shop in Vancouver, all the kits have come with the cone, surround, spider and VC/VC former in one piece, a dust cap, an alignment "tool" and a tube of glue. Anybody with a little patients can re-cone a speaker.

well i didnt even get to see it so....but im kinda of glad i didnt cuz that might have been to loud for the thieves once i got a new amp to handle that power. plus that 50 lb beast was a hassle for reals but i got a new setup once i get the money
