Default Where are cork oil pan gaskets available?

I'm sick of these crappy rubber ones, i can't get them to seal, i snug the bolts down a little more, i split the gasket, this has happened twice. I want a cork one.

Use a torque wrench on those bolts and that won't happen.

Cork oil pan gaskets are poop for Hondas, or else Honda would have used them in the first place.

I wonder if someone at some point in time pryed against the pan to get it off, and in doing so bent it slightly enough to maybe not be obvious, but enough to leak.

Are you using any Hondasbond on the pan and gasket when you're replacing it?

Sounds like you are severely overtorquing your oilpan bolts.
You realize they should only be torqued to like 8.5 lb/ft each right? And going any higher will warp the oilpan and cause leaks?

What spacers?

There are not any spacers for the oil pan that I'm aware of.

You should have an assortment of nuts that screw onto the studs, and then bolts that screw into the holes in the block - there are no spacers.

What year and make kind of car are you working on?

Are you torqueing them down in the correct sequence to get a proper seal.

There's supposed to be little metal spacers in each hole of the gasket to prevent the gasket from splitting, when i took off my origional one, i tossed them because i thought they were part of the gasket and would be in the new one.

Where are you buying your gaskets from?

Buy the gasket from a Honda dealership, and while you're there also get a tube of Hondabond.

My shop installs Honda gaskets all day every day without one single problem. Basically you need to not overtorque the nuts/bolts, and you also put a thin film of Hondabond on the flat surfaces of the gasket to help seal it up better. Do not glob it on there, just a nice even thing film on the flat surfaces will suffice.

I finally got a Honda OEM one, it's sealing better, but it's still leaking a bit.

I think i'm going to smear some "Right Stuff" around the area that's leaking, if it still leaks, whatever, it's not losing that much oil anymore.

I just took mine off last night. I saw liquid gasket on the pan where the lip bends to accomodate the front and rear part of the crankshaft. Has anyone tried to clean the oil screen by removing it and backflushing it with oil? I'm assuming there's a screen in there like the name says.

I got a non-honda oilpan gasket but I kept the little spacers from the old one . There were 4 or 8 spacers (can't recall). I'll put it on tonite and see how it goes.
