Yeah its possible and I agree with the other guys it sucks. Your going to have to take off the front, rear and the passenger side engine mounts also. I just did mine about two days ago, but just make sure the new tranny is the right series. I switched in a 91 si tranny into my 90 HF.

Yeah its tight, but I still kept the HF axles on it. Do you think I should change the axles to the SI ones?

If you do you will need the hub and spindle assembly from a Dx or Si

Its not that hard, pull the axls, remove some bolts and drop the tranny out. If you guys want to talk about a pain in the a$$, try dropping an auto tranny out the bottom. I will never have to do that again.

i'll give a hell yeah to that...big pain in the ***. sometimes that takes longer than taking the tranny out to start with.

it lined up at my first time but like i said its so much easier with a lift. did a b and a D tranny with a lift and one B without and i almost gave up when i did it without the lift. as stated nothing was hard to do when i had the lift. the hardest was getting that back starter bolt for me off
If you cant get a lift, get a second set of hands for putting the tranny in. I had to lift mine in from the top while working a floor jack underneath the tranny with my foot to get it in.
