Default battery or Starter?

My car kinda died today... the accessories would turn on but the engine wouldnt turn over.
I got a jump and then the engine would turn over..

When I would switch between High Beems & Low Beems the accessories would pause (like it would kinda reset, the cd would restart itself like it skipped or something.)

Is this a problem with the starter or the battery?

Well, if you jump it and it start then it sounds like the battery to me. I would get the battery tested.

cuz my step dad said that it sounded like the starter had a loose wire, but i was thinkin like you guys because if the car would start with a jump then it would be the battery..

well if the accessories' power was fluctuating, then you can rule out the starter.

Exactly. If it was the starter, it wouldn't even start.

If the solenoid clicks once then its a crap *** battery. Even if it reads 12 volts static then you can be dropping 7 volts (or more!!!0 during cranking.....which will not turn the starter over. Had the same thing happen to me earlier today as a matter of fact. Just fill the water up and then stick it on a charger for a couple of hours.
