Is that on the arm rest?

Those are the same ones that hold the emblem on the bumper. I just ended up breaking mine off. If you have more patience, I believe that you can just break the little plates off without breaking off the whole peg.

The words "dremel" and grinder come to mind.
Could try Vasaline, baby oil and/or... oh damn, what's that water soluable lubricant? (just kidding)

Look, this should be pretty simple!
What would YOU think your options are?

those look similar to the ring plates that held the floor carpet onto my buddie's CRX's side panel thing ( dunno what it's called ) that sits on the door jam. I used a flat head screw driver and VERY carefully removed them to seperate it. But....not sure if that's going to work for that. You can give it a try though. But again...be very careful.

There really isn't a good way that I know of to get that off.

Did you buy an armrest elimantor? If so, and you didn't buy the cover for the bolts, you will be cutting anyway.

I had to carefully cut around the bottom of the rings, because they are crimped on.

So yes dremel, and razor blade is your friend

what's all that dirt and rust?

I just pulled mine straight off. The crimped clips both broke but it came off pretty cleanly. But I don't think I'd suggest this method since I think I got lucky and I was just pulling it off before the car went to the wrecking yard.

I just did this last week...
Use a pair of needle nose and grab only the clip and rotate the clip on the plastic shaft and it will thread the plastic shaft and come off with out breaking the pins.
To re install just push them back on.

Thanks Rene, I was turning the plate but it was coming off. Maybe I'll just need to do it longer. Thanks.

Rotate it at an angle not straight and carefulley pull out while you do it and you will see it start to thread up the shaft. Be gentle or it will cut throught the shaft.

i had alot of fun with this too. needle nose and patience is key and a small flat head screwdriver and slowly with the needle nose back and forth it will come off. get new clips for the reinstall.
