VAFC Vs. Chip
This might sound like a stupid question but what's people opinions on the VAFC vs. Chipping.
I have a b16 in my EF and, I believe the Ecu is a pw0. A buddy of mine has a vtec controller in his CRX and he was telling me it's a good way to up the fuel and air adjustments. He also said its gas efficient on the freeway setting his vtec at a higher RPM.
On the other hand another buddy of mine has a "chipped" ecu in his CRX rich makes his car pretty quick compared to my stock b16.
Well my question is which way is the better way to go if what i'm looking for is making my car a little quicker? And what well be the cheaper way?
I'm asking for input and opinions.
thank you.
p.s. I'm fairly new to Hondas and I'm new to Honda Tech. I did search to see if this topic has been covered and I got zero results.

Chipping is cheaper and less hassle...generaslly you send off your ecu with a list..what motor you have, set-up, mods, etc and whomever you send it to does your chip. You get it back, you plug it in, your done. But anytime to make a major setup change, turbo, nitrous etc back off your ecu goes.
However, a VAFC will give you much more versatility, and it can be tuned to your liking. Plus a VAFC allows you to re-tune at anytime if you ever change your setup, plus a VAFC is universal, you can swap out to a D series/H series and still use it. However major setup changes = dyno/tuning time which = $.
Chip = cheap, easy
VAFC = more $, more versatile, better overall

Chip it and do your own editing with BRE, Crome, or Uberdata. Buy yourself a cheap rom burner like a willems and go nuts. Screw paying people to burn programs for you, do it yourself. Go to http://www.pgmfi.org, read, and learn.
Thank you I'm less confused now. If I decide to chip it myself I am really clueless on tuning options. What exactly is "Uberdata" and "Hondata"? How much wil chipping cost overall If I do it? Or have someone else do it?
Thank you guys for all your help!
