Problem Installed AEM Short Ram Air Intake
I have a 95 Accord EX
I recieved my AEM Short Ram Air Intake today in the mail and my roommate and I ran into some problems trying to install it. Underneath the stock air hose there is what looks to be another throttle body attached to the hose with a sensor. We can not figure out where that will attach to our new intake. Anybody who has done this before. Do you have any suggestions or diagrams for us to follow. We are really lost. Thank you/

you intake should come with some sort of t fitting that will allow you to connect two hoses onto one outlet on the air intake. One of the hoses also needs to be plugged off if i am remebering correctly.
I didnt get a T fitting... and also we are more confused about what to do with the sensor and Small box that sits in beside the air box....
Does anybody HAVE any idea what this thing is the runs underneath the stock air hose. It runs to some sort of throttle body and sensor... Right near the battery and Air Box??
i belive i know what u are talkin about does it have filtech on it??? Because i had a 96 accord (totaled it) and i took all that off everything that was attached to the "factory air box i took it off and one i done that i cranked it up and see if i had a check engine light on or anything drove it had as hell to hear the intake and nothing happened. So all that crap that was on the stock air box i took it all off. Basically me and a friend of mines gutted the whole factory box to make room for the new one. Should not be any diffrent from my 96. Now about the hoses i only had one running to the intake i don't know too much about the AEM should be the same.

Was this one the 2.2 Vtec.... Ya Soo u just took out that whole unit that said Filtech...... the sensor and everything??? What did you do with the sensor?? Now about the hoses.. WHat one did u leave unattached? The one that goes to the sensor or the valve cover breater??? Its sounds confusing, but i dont have any pictures, and we need to get this in, because the old air box is thrashed.
yes this is the engine the f22b1 SOHC VTEC 2.2I4 in all the EX's from 94 to 97 the filtech which is the small box located under the "stock" factory BOX (might be a couple of inches back) as u can notice there are some bolts i dunno what size but when u take the box off and take the clamps off from the t-body it should come off. Then u will reveal the little box call filtech don't know what is used for but go ahead and take it off. I know on my car it didn't read anything like a check engine light or anything after i took it off. The hoses ehhhh. I had a crappy APC intake which only cost me about 70.00 at advance auto but it made the car sound mean though but anyway i only had one hose to go to that from the intake itself from the valve cover it's a small piece u put it on. I need to go out side and look at my accord to see if it's right.
and the black hose that's runnin from the valve cover the Says VTEC the stock hose is where u put intake hose at how many hoses u get with the intake??? It's on the left upper corner
I think he's talking about the IAR system (Intake Air Resonator). This was used to improve low end torque on the car by closing a butterfly valve at rpms under 4100 and opening it during VTEC.

OK so I am all good then to take that whole box out. There is various hoses running from it. I imagine I can just remove the whole set up! Now my only concern was it looked to be a sensor also attached. To the left of the little box. Did you remove this as well???? I think we are getting close to understanding this whole mess. Thank you guys so much for your input.
Also i am still unsure as to what hoses to hook up and what ones to leave exposed, as there is only one breather line spot on the AEM pipin and what looks like two lines attached to the throttle body??

I beleive the correct way to install it would be by removing the box, and making a small hole in the base of the filter (rubber part) and stick the vaccum line in it.
wow this was fun reading soo much madness... I have a CAi. so its the same thing for instalaion i installed everythign myself also.. soo
.. remove everything from the stock air system... then add your intake pipe..
there should be a hose that came with your intake... to install that one youll need to take off the stock hose from the valve cover.. (the stock hose is connect to another hose that connects sumwhere down below your fuel rail).. leave that other hose for now... now attach one end of your new hose to the valve cover and the other to the intake...
now i dont know if it came with 2 tubes like mine.. but the second tube that was connect to the old one on your valve cover... just replace it with your new tube.. and take out the old hoses..

I heard that the littel box under the factory air box is somehitng to do wit the vtec making so much noise, that the box quiets the noise down or somehting like that cannot remember exactly what it does but somehting to do with Vtec

actually, no, it has nothing to do with vtec. its called a resonator and yes, it has to do with quieting the intake tract down...every honda has one, vtec and non vtec models. simply to help tune the noise out of the intake..
