Default How can I verify I have a correct engine harness?

I am going to buy a 99-00 Ex harness. However, I need some way to verify that it is in fact off a 99-00 Ex, and that it's off a manual Ex.

ALso, does anyone know if the engine harness for a manual is different from an automatic?

Help Please!!!!

Theres not much of a diff from the Auto to Mani harness other than a few extra plugs near the tranny. The only way you could really tell by looking at it is check out the dizzy plug and make sure its just 1 big plug and has the green vtec silonoid plug etc ...Injector clips ...Plugs where the car harness plugs into the motor harness is really whatd Id be looking for

Theres no difference off manual and auto. Only a couple extra plugs.

A way you could tell is if theres VTEC plugs, also OBD2 injector plugs are black with a push connection. You push the sides and they pop off. Also the distributor plug is 1 plug instead of 2. And the alternator is square instead of round.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am going to pick it up tonight and check for the details you pointed out. If anyone has any other obvious pointers, please post them up.

Also - is there a way to tell the 96-98 harnesses from the 99-00? I don't know the guy I am buying this from, so I want to make sure I have all of my bases coverered.

TIA

Well, the IACV connector is different between the auto and manual version of the Y8 harness.

There should be a knock sensor connector, as well as the VTEC pressure sensor and solenoid connectors.

Here is question: Aren't there some ECU connectors present? Well, OBD2a and b are wired completely different as far as ECU connectors go which means that wires in certain spots are going to be different colors between the two harnesses, right?

That's what I am trying to figure out. I am looking through the FSM, and I can't figure out the differences between the two in terms of wire colors.

By the way, the reason I am buying this harness is to use it with a 00 GSR swap in a 00 hatch. Currently, the wiring harness does not correspond to anything I've found in the civic FSM.

The IACV connector on the 5spd y8 harness is 2 wire while the auto has a 3 wire. It's near the TPS and MAP sensor plugs which are both 3 wire I think.

The ecu plugs are different between the 96-98 obd2a and 99-00 obd2b.

Let's work it like this then - there are only 4 possible ECU connectors and not all of them are going to be present. The ones that are present serve different purposes between the generations, so I'll list the wire color of what's in pin 1 for each - its on you after that.

OBD2a
'A' - Yel
'B' - Wht (auto only)
'C' - Blu/Red
'D' - Red/Blk

OBD2b
'A' - Blu/Wht
'B' - Yel/Blk
'C' - Blk/Wht
'D' - Yel (auto only)

'A' is a 32 pin connector, B is 25 pins, C is 31 pins and D is 16 pins.

also if it is automatic there will be 4 ECu plugs instead of 3. the 3rd (OB2A) or 4th (OBD2B) ECU plugs are four automatics
