93 civic LX - Wheel hub problem
I have been using this forum for the past two years and would like to thank all of you for the valuable insights and tips. This has helped me a lot in doing most of the maintenance myself and save a lot of money.
1993 Honda Civic LX 4 dr , 168k miles.
Yesterday I had taken the car for an alignment. The shop called me later and told that one of the studs on the driver side was just rotating and they had to break it. They also said that the hole on the hub had widened??? and so I would need a new hub. I told them to secure with 3 lug bolts.
Prior to this I had changed the rotor and brake pads and may have over tightened the bolts.
Q1 - How difficult is it to replace the hub and lugs? Can this be avoided and just replace the lug bolts? I have not yet examined the hub and don’t trust the shop.
Q2 - Is it necessary to apply some anti-seizing grease on the lug threads ?
I am above average in my mechanical skills. Don’t have a slide hammer but have most basic tools.
Thanks in advance.
