Default driveside axle wont go in all the way?

its almost there but its like it can go anymore? feels like its jamming on something. i tried to install the axle without the snap ring and still the same problem. anybody have any ideas? i took it to the shop and they said the diff could be bad. how?? i refuse to belive that, i went and got a new driveside axle and still the same problem. the car drves but it makes a knocking noise. anybody have any secrets of trying to get this bitch it? please dont tell me to just keep banging it in and/or align the axle straight because thats what i did all day yesterday. thanks in advance

Well, trying to install it without a snap-ring is very dangerous.

Anyhoo...

Have you checked if the old snap-ring isn't still inside the transmission?

Put the snap ring back on the axle, put it in the transmission, rotate by little increments and shove really hard. A rubber mallet won't kill the CV joints either, if you can hold the axle straight enough to put some *** into a swing.

It'll go in. Just be patient
