Default How/With What Should I Mod My 97 Accord LX? Please Help!

I have a fairly stock 97 Accord LX. I have some nice rims, tint, and a pretty decent sound system, which I am upgrading again for another 200 dollars. Anyway, how else should I change the car? I really don't want to add a drastic body kit or anything like that. For the most part I was just thinking maybe switching up the gauges and maybe getting a new exhaust. Any reccommendations are totally welcome. I need all the help I can get, I am such a newbie at all this. Thanks a lot!

I'd probably say more cosmetic than performace, but it is always good to get both. It's an AT by the way though.

Well I might want a small body kit, nothing too crazy, but my stock exhaust is sort of lame, and I'd atleast like to change the muffler for visual purposes. I'd like some new gauges as well. That's sort of where I am now. I am not all that interested in lowering it. Thanks again.

id say some gauges ro interior dress-up parts or paint the interior with paint, if you want looks only

otherwise id say axle-back exhaust if you want to change just the muffler

my $.02

just like everybody has a different opinion on which subwoofer is the best..same w/mufflers.

IMO, I think the Megan Racing GT muffler is the best sounding Ive heard on our accords. Not too much over stock, but you can tell its not stock either. A lil more of a deep tone at low rpm's but not a high pitch fart at higher either. I just dont care for how big it is though <sighs> but its all a matter of opinion.

Also for sound..get an intake something generic and cheap off ebay or used because they dont do jack for performance. But they do make your car sound lots better and meaner..even though its not

if you just want to stay on budget, get some gauge faces instead of gauges and put in a colored LED light behind teh cluster

Well I got a good bit of money to spend. My budget will probably clock in at around 500 if it has to be that high. Any more input on intakes is also welcome, I don't want to get stuck with some generic garbage. A website with gauges would be good too. Again, I am new and not really sure what's what haha. Thanks again.

make sure you shop around and get what you like that is tasteful (to you) and make sure you get a good price.

as far as mods, the 5th gen sedans actually look pretty good with just a GReddy front lip, a nice drop, and a set of 18s.
for exhaust, shop around and get what kind of "can" you like. the GReddy evo is nice and easy to install. and megan racing stuff seems to be of good quality.
just a thought: some gauges interfere with the working of the needles correctly, so check and make sure you don't have any clearance problems once you install them.

for $500 (if that is your whole budget), might be kind of hard to work with though.....

There really is no big difference between generic intake and real expensive stuff. Besides little things it all comes down to the filter anyway.

IMO get a universal muffler and have that welded on, a cheap ebay intake and buy a K&N filter, and then some guages if that is what you want.

For the muffler it will cost you anywhere from $40 to $100 and then to have it welded on is fairly cheap. The intake you can get for around $30, here's a link to one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33710

Then just get a K&N filter for it. Thant's your best bet. Also check out performancepeddler on ebay they have some nice magnaflow exhaust's with free shipping and you can submit your best offer and get them for cheaper than listed.

theres you can still mod for cosmetics AND at the same time add to the performance...

teh BIGGEST and BEST (imo) cosmetic upgrade to a car is lowering it. if dont with high quality parts, with a stiffer setup, it will also DRASTICALLY change the performance of the car for the better.

for 500 you can get some tein basic coilovers or some 2" drop springs and GOOD adjustable shocks. if you can install them, itll be around $500 total and your car will be COMPELLTY different

dont get a traditional "body kit".....a mugen style lip is all the accord really needs
