Default What motor is practical?

Ok my B18b has 253,000 miles on it and i am looking forward to swapping a motor into it. This is my daily driver but i love to have fun driving. I dont know if i should drop another B18b into it or get a DOHC VTEC Bseries motor (i cant think of the name) Give me your suggestions and opinions... how much do you think this all would cost??

both the b18b non vtec and the b18c vtec are very good motors but if you're not going to do much to the engine besides the simple bolt-ons, i suggest getting the gsr b18c1 vtec because imo it benefits from i/h/e more than the b18b ... b18b is a very good pick for turbo though and is also somewhat cheaper than the b18c and since i dont know if you're going to keep your ls tranny or not but that tranny wouldnt be good with any of the vtec motors because the gears are longer ..
For a complete motor and tranny swap .. a b18b would be anywhere from $1500 to $2500 depending on who does it for you .. for b18c1 gsr , most likely $2500 to $3000 .. if you are considering the type r also .. it ll be like $3500 to $4000
all the prices are for parts and labors legitly and its only MY estimates so best to go check it out urself but my pick would be the b18c1 gsr .. not too $$$ and pretty fun in stock form

How much are you willing to spend on a swap?
If you got another B18B, a good idea might be to put in a different transmission, such as a B16 or a GSR. But you also have to consider the driving you do, such as highway, where both tranny's will be a at a higher RPM. Or you could just do this as a tradeoff for performance.
The B18C would also be a nice choice, although more money, because it provides better performance than the B18B.

you didnt say what car this is for. well if its for an integra than yeah either the LS or the GSR depending on yourr needs. but if its for a hatch or civic then maybe you would want to consider a B16.

What's wrong with the motor you have? The most practical thing to do would be a rebuild. You will know in the end you have a "like new" motor, and it will probably be cheaper (of course that part is up to you). Don't fall into the trap of thinking you need to swap. Honda motor swaps are ridiculously priced for the power increase. Plus you do not know the motor's condition. All mileage estimates are just that, estimates. Unless the seller personally runs the motor or disassembles it, they don't know the real condition of it.

Thanks guys for all of your help... it is much appreciated! I think i am going to just drive my car the way it is until something goes wrong and then i will just buy a new B18b and bolt it onto my tranny that i have!!! Thanks for the help though its just that i found out i can get a B18b with 25-30 thousand miles on it for only $600 and i will install it myself... so thats a deal!

Thanks again!

If you're looking for cheap, practical and fun, get the B16A
