Default ecu problem? or something else.

i just got my 99 gsr swapped into my 99 ex. the wiring harness was a modified dx or a cx from a 96 hatch. and the ecu says its a 99 gsr ecu but the shop said when they took a look at it, it was a 96-98 gsr ecu. i have a guy saying that all i need is my stock ex wiring harness and a 99 gsr obd2b ecu. will that work? someone help me out. engine is cranking but there is no spark with the 99 gsr motor+modified dx or cx 96 civic harness+96-98 gsr ecu. remember this whole setup came straight out of a running car. what do i have to do?

Simple problem. The are more than one way so solve this, but the simpliest way is to buy a OBD2A-OBD1 jumper harness ( I can get you one for $125 shipped) and a OBD1 chipped P28 or even an OBD1 GSR ecu.
