I killed the clutch on my turbo y8 and I was wondering what you guys would recommend. The clutch thats in there is a ACT 6 puck with a HD pressure plate and it only lasted 2500 miles. I want something that can really take some hard launches and hold over 400 hp.

 

jesus dood, you went threw that already.. whats your setup.. i've always been a fan of act, never ran one.. but heard nothing but good things. What about tilton, they make good stuff. I doubt they have a sohc app thow, shrug.. maybe exedy offers something better

 

I looked at the exedy's and they don't hold much power. I would get a tilton and have my friend make me a flywheel to run it but I don't want to spend over $1000 for a clutch. I've been looking at the clutchmasters stage 5 or just stepping up to the act extreme pressure plate.

My setup:
z6 block, sleeved, srp pistons, eagle rods
y8 head
crower valve springs and Ti retainers
comp cams turbo cam
adj. cam gear
y8 intake manifold
bbk t/b
custom piping, turbo manifold and intercooler
14b turbo(getting changed out again)
3 inch downpipe
reprogrammed ecu w/ ftl
I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff but thats the just
dsm 450's

 

god damn how much are u really putting out of that sohc that u go through a 6 puck in 2500 miles. what about an act 4puck?

Maybe the driver, abusing it.. it's hard to see that happen?

 

4 pucks the same material as the 6. I need a pressure plate that has more clamping. FTL and alot of hard launches will kill any clutch, it's just a matter of how long it takes.

 

the car is built just for drag racing so all it gets is hard launches
