Default checking dipstick oil

I checked my engine oil when it was completely cold and it read at the lower dot...and after i ran it and let it sit for 10 mins....its at the top dot. Is that a little wierd because isn't oil suppose to be in the engine and ect. and give a lower reading for the dipstick? I know some people said that its suppose to be pressurized after running your car a lil...is this true?

What measurement should i go by?...alot of people have said to read it early in the morning and others have said to check it like 10-15 mins after running (I searched)...what do you guys think? 2000 si by the way

Check it cold, your more than likely getting readings from it dripping on the dipstick as it's draining from the head when warm. Cold will tell you the exact amount of oil in the pan with pleanty of time to settle from the head.
