Default Specific head gasket question...I know there are alot of these but...

Ok guys, I am in the middle of a catastrophy. About 3 weeks ago my 91 std hatch started burning water....BAD! I filled the entire parking lot at work with bright white smoke! I drove it home & parked it. I am now driving my bimmer while making plans to repair/replace the motor. Here's the problem. My bimmer took a dump on me today & I need a quick fix for the civic. I already have made arrangements to meet someone next weekend to pick up a low mileage replacement, but I need wheels now. I have searched all of the head gasket posts, and alot of them mention having the head milled. The problem with that is the urgency in which I need to get this done. Do you guys think I would be able to get away with just replacing the parts (head gasket, IM gasket, plugs & such) to get me around until I can get the other motor bolted up? I mean I know it is always better to be safe than sorry, but I need to get this done this weekend. I guess this is mostly a request for opinions from people who have done this with out milling the head. But feel free to chime in with any useful input.

Thanks
