Default 12v Switched Source In Fuse Box for Secondaries

Hi, ive tried using a 12v source from near my battery and it doesnt seem to be switched or has too much power....ive also tried using the fuse box for my 12v source for secondaries, it worked for a while but eventually one headlight stopped working b/c it blew the fuse in the fuse box and there went the secondaries as well....does anyone know a good 12v switched source near/in fuse box that would be good for me to tap into without blowing a fuse stopping something else? its on a 00 civic si, thanks

on the fuse box there should be 5 spots where a spade connector could be plugged in. if you are looking for a 12v switched, its the one that is farthest to the left. it is in my 93 civic, if you have 96+ i think its different. hope this helps

and if im not mistaken, you run the power wire from the IAB solenoid to the ecu and then you ground the other wire. depends on which ecu, OBD1 or OBD2.

OBD1 P72 wiring wise... the ECU provides ground signal to open the IABs, the other side of the IAB solinoid runs to switched power from the yel/blk wires at the driver's shock tower.

if you're running power into the ECU on that pin, you may have all ready blown the output inside the ECU.

ya im pretty sure I had it right because it was working but then I blew a fuse inside the fuse box and it stopped worked, and it was a headlight fuse so im pretty sure I have it wired right....just wondering the best place in the fuse box to go, im running a conversion harness for the ecu/engine etc...I have hte pink/blue wire going to the ecu, and the other black to switched source thanks!

the headlight has a 10amp fuse, with higher wattage bulb you may blow it if you switch on both at the same time.

at the under hood fuse box there is a blk/wht wire that connects to the same fuse that is supposed to run this function.
But you have to replace the alternator and SP sensor (fuse#15) in the underdash fuse box from a 7.5 amp fuse to a 10amp fuse.

Where does this go to the under the dash fusebox? To fuse #15 then? I have a wire right there so id like to plug into that fusebox somehow safely...thanks

the 20 pin green connector in the front of the fuse box, there should be a blk/wht wire 3 in from the side, splice into it.
then up the fuse to a 10amp.

replace the existing 7.5 amp in the fuse box with a 10amp.
you can put a fuse in line with your solinoid if you want to. a 5amp should do it.

yes that will work, yes it will cause problem in the long run doing it that way. (connection goes bad over time)
3 in from the left I think, I don't know which way the plug is in there.

require - no
suggested - well... I always error on the safe side. a fuse isn't going to hurt anything.
