Well,

It seems like I'm going to have my headgasket replaced in my 91 REX SI. Since the head is going to be removed I saw two VTec heads in our local trading post. One is a VTEC SOHC D16Z6 and the other is a VTEC SOHC D16Y8. Is either of these worth purchasing for a mini-me conversion or is it a waste of money since eventually I'm going to go with a B16 swap.

Should give you about 15 to 20 hp with vtec. If you are planning on going B series then just save for that.

 

I was thinking about that also but I want to ride now. If I'm going to pay 500.00 to 1100.00 for the repair (depending on the condition of the head) I figured the mini-me conversion would keep me sane and since the seller only wants 70.00 for the head I might come out cheaper.

 

if your not going to pickup a b series for an extended period of time why not just do the swap while you have the parts available to you now.

I don't know exactly how much HP your going to gain over the OEM setup, but if your going to have the head off already you may as well just do it if its not going to blow your $ situation out of wack.
