Default Hi-temp Engine Paint For Wheels??

Would it work? Has anyone done it? Or should I use regular enamel or "roll bar paint"? There isn't any wheel paint available in the color I want.

What color?
What about caliper paint, it's hi temp. and is designed with road grime in mind.
just some thoughts from work

Gloss black is the color. I'm not really interested in using caliper paint because it's to damn expensive for what you get.

Engine paint here. It works, for a little while. Don't count on it lasting.

Probably better off with regular body paint, it can stand the heat under the hood so it should do "OK" on street wheels.

thx for chris F I'll pass on the engine paint then. I'll either go with regular duplicolor enamel or rollbar paint.

I've used the dupicolor wheel paints with good results, just make sure to do a good job prepping the wheel first, and the paint will stick nicely.
and last time I checked they did have a gloss black.

i used high-heat enamel. worked well.. you just have to scrub the rim with steel wool to make sure ALL the oil/grease/debris is off. not really a use of taking the paint down with airplane thinner - very time consuming. just make sure to primer it right and it should all be good. good luck.

btw - paint does chip off from rocks..
