i have done research buut still not sure on a few things i have a 98 ex can i only use a b16a2 , do i have to get the harness for a obd1 , what ecu do i need ,, do any one have everything i need to do this swap

the b16a2 is obd2. you can use the ecu that comes w/ the a2 swap or you can use a reprogrammed p28 or p30 ecu(can also use pr3 and a few others).

 

so i dont have to use the b16a2

 

do it work like this if i use a b16a wich is a obd1 i have to get that harness and ecu,, if i get a b16 obd 0 i have to get a obd 0 harness and ecu

 

obd0 harness wont work in your car niether will the ECU

 

will a early model b16 work in my car and what would i need to make it work is what i am trying to ask guess

 

B16A1 will work in your car. You will need a conversion harness to convert your obd2 plugs to obd1 to use your obd1 ecu

 

Get the VTEC swap. Use your Civic harness on the motor, and just get a OBD2a to OBD1 Conversion harness if the ECU is OBD1

 

the 92-95 and 99-00 motors are both called b16a2's. make sure you know what 0bd it is.

 

how do i tell one from the other

 

the early b16 will fit in your car just need to do some changing around harness things on the engine etc etc.

1. Exercise your soldering skill and patience as you extend and shorten wires on the engine harness for 4-8 hours, or...

2. Send your JDM harness out to hasport, wait a few days or a week whatever it is and spend, what is it like $150 on something you could do yourself for under $20.

Now if you get an OBD that varies from your vehicle as mentioned an adapter harness or two will be all you will need to do. Now if the ODB systems match, the **** should be pretty much plug and play. You'll just need a rear mount bracket from the 99-00 si if the swap didn't come with it. They are like $50 at the dealer..

I don't think so.

In the US we had the b16a3 in the del sol and the b16a2 in the 99-00 si. The JDM one is just called a b16a.

Just to add a note, a ton of people call 92-95 JDM B16s B16A2 because it is second gen. The only B16s that have any numbers after the B16A are USDM spec. engines.
