Default My Toyota died yesterday....

Hey, I know it's kinda' OT, but not really; my Honda could have the same problem
one day. Anyway, the car starts/drives fine for as long as I've owned it, (2yrs),
then, yesterday, I go to a friends, turn the car off, and chill. About 10 minutes
later, I'm going to get a pizza, and she won't start, but it does crank over. We
check it out, and it's not getting any spark. The distributor looks good; friend
suggests bad coil. We put in a new coil, still no spark. I order an ignition module,
(something I didn't want to do since it's high $$$), but was wondering if it could
be something else. Any info would be appreciated. The car is an '84 Toyota Celica
GT, 22RE w/EFI; starter was new when I bought the car. I really hated ordering that module, since it's almost as much as I paid for the car.

Can't you get the ignition module from a junkyard? If you can't find one for a Celica, that engine was used in a lot of Toyota pickups/4Runners also.

Default Gasoline Fumes...

I thought about that, but figured these salvage yard guys know what parts cost,
and the price would be comparable. Plus, being well?used, the part could fail the
day after I installed it. Napa wanted $240.00+ . I figured Advance Auto Parts was a good deal at $181.00. Anyway, thanks for the advice; where I live, you have
to travel to eastbumblefuck to reach a junkyard, and I thought the added time/hassle of hunting down an ignition module wouldn't be worth it. For me, it's
an "all-day" affair: getting there, looking around, driving home; and with one day
off a week, well....I'll let "ya'll" know if it works, in any case. This sucks. She was
so dependable, just like my Hondas .

PS - My friend let my "borrow" his '80's Camaro convertable, (think it's an '89),
and, though the "fit and finish" is definately inferior to any Jap car I've ever owned,
that BEAST is BAD TO THE BONE! AND it's an automatic, no less! It'd really be a KILLER with a manual stick. I still prefer my Sol though; that Chevy's a real "boat" when you're not going in a straight line. However, it DID handle better than I expected it to. I definately want something like it when I "replace" the Toyota,
which may not be far off.

Sounds like you want a Japanese Camaro.

Supra ; really want an MR2 (91-95) to replace the "beater" though.
Should be installing the ignition module in a few. Hope this works.
