Hey guys,

If anyone could please suggest what it may be, i have a deep pitch sound "Hmmmmmm" in between revs of 3000-3500RPMS... while sittin in neutral, i depressed the clutch and it still makes that sound.. and when i am switching gears while driving ill get the same noise..

The car drives perfectly fine , and pulls strong.. its just the audible noise..

i also have a sound kinda like a rattle comming frmo the transmission when i have the car on parked... when i press the clutch it immediately goes away.

When i have the car running while in neutral with the engine on I rev it to 4k and let the RPMS climb and from 3.5-3kRPMS it will make the "Hmmm" sound similiar to the REVERSE GEAR. I pushed in the clutch and of course it did the same thing.

While driving and shiftnig gears, if it falls inbetween that RPMband it will make that noise... BUT ONLY when its decelerating.. NOT when im accelerating.

2nd noise- When engine is on idling it makes a rattle/sound, when i press the clutch it goes away.. iv also heard ratting sounds that suonded extreme when passing thru DRIVE-THRU fastfood joints, but not anymore.. is if DEBRI from the bearing in the transmission? can this lead to bigger problems?

How long do you guys expect my car to be in teh shop to get this problem fixed?

PS- Fluid is topped up.. i purchased the car 1 month ago.. and he had all the service maintaince records up to date.? This crap started happening ever since i was hard on the car and went out tracking... argh.. to many launches i assume.

when was the last time you change your transmissioun fluid? and i hope your using hondamanual tranny fluid. the second noise sounds like your input shaft bearing is bad.

1st noise :does it make that sound with the engine off? does it makethat sound every 3k to 3.5k rpm? or only when you step on the clutch pedal?

 

My ITR was makin a deep hummm between 3.5k and 5k with clutch in or out, any gear and it turned out 2 b a crack heat shield on the cat.

Mite not b tha... but worth a check.

 

Yeah it was a bent heat shield.. he pried it nice for me so its not making the noise anymore.. i didnt feel like paying $140 bucks for parts and labour (no warranty on that..)

The tech is a really cool guy, actually my neighbour!! they are taking my tranny apart tommorow (WARRANTY! Woohoo) and will see what the sound is @ idle... most obviously some dumb bearing...

They are also doing an oil consumption test, its filled right now.. i was seriously putting in about 1lt/1000kms.. so if when they see how much it comsumed and its bad, they will rebuild my motor with new block/etc... so expect me to vtec alot and use alot of oil! haha

 

if the noise is happening with clutch in, it probably isnt a tranny bearing.

 

the noise goes away when i push the clutch in actually...i just tap it a little hint not even a millimeter and it goes away

 

this noise definitely sounds like your throwout bearing is bad.

 

poor gyus have to rip out my whole tranny and fix it.. stupid bearnig like that is so much work eh??

Thankgod for warranty...labour would own me.

 

lucky its an acura. honda warranty is only 3 yrs/36k...
