Ex knuckle/brake clarification
Let me start by saying that I have searched & genuinely tried to find this info without posting a new thread. However, your reading this, so I still need clarification. I just pulled the knuckles & calipers from the front of a '90 Ex @ a local junkyard. I didn't buy the rotors because I want to replace them with new parts. I will probably also replace the calipers, but I pulled them so I could use them for cores. I understand that these share the same rotors/calipers as the '90+ integras. My first question is there any benefit to using the teg calipers vs. the Ex calipers? I also wanted to confirm that if I purchase the teg rotors that this will be a direct fit. And lastly, I have no plans to upgrade to rear discs. Is there a need to swap out the master cylinders? I will appreciate any info from experience that you can provide.
Also...I know I was just working on one, but I forgot to check. Do the Ex civics have rear discs too? I've read that people use the 15/16 master cyl. from the Ex, but I have never heard of using the trailing arms & rear discs from an "Ex".

Just buy the stock replacement parts unless you're going to go up to 11" rotors, keep it simple. If you want a stiffer pedal with less travel, upgrade to the EX master cylinder, always a plus in my book, makes heal toe a little easier.

The rotors are listed by Brembo as "Integra, 90 up". I got the blanks, no holes or slots. I also got the EX reman (by honda) calipers and they were $100 bux a pop. I don't see why the Integra calipers wouldn't work just as well and prob newer to boot. The EX that donated my parts did not have rear discs (or rear swaybar). After I swapped, my master cyl went out so I replaced it with the 15/16 EX unit. I don't know if it made that much difference but it did shorten the stroke at the pedal somewhat, firmer too. Be sure and bench bleed it at installation. FWIW, I added SS lines to all the above along with Raybestos Ceramic pads and Porterfield shoes in the rear. I have very good brakes in my street CRX.

NOTICED I PUT 4dr??
There's a difference between 2dr and 4dr for brakes.
I believe it will say LH-3 and RH-3 somewhere on the knuckle assembly too. I know its LH-(something) I will try to find out.

haha, well I guess I dont' know sh*t about Civics then. All I know is every time I see people saying they are getting the EX brakes to make sure they are 4dr.
O well I guess I'll just keep my input to myself

Yes, they are from a four door. There were no Ex models aside from the four door.
So there is no difference to using the integra calipers? Oh, and I do plan on upgrading to ss lines as well.

Do you think buying them from Honda makes them perform better than just reman parts from a parts store (i.e. Autozone, Pep Boys)?

They will say LH3-A and RH3-A for the EX knuckles.
The Integra calipers are SLIGHTLY larger and as a result, the pad has a surface area that is marginally larger.
For the most part, the Integra and EX brakes are virtually the same (completely interchangeable) aside from a few cosmetic differences and the marginally larger pad surface area.
And the EX never came with rear disc brakes so don't bother wasting your time looking for them!

No, absolutely not! But I did have the satisfaction that I would only have to install and bleed them once. Very unlike the rear autozone wheel cylinders that I bought.
Since then I have bought Pep Boys calipers for the rear of my Teg with no probs. They were Nissen cores, not made in BFE like a lot of the reman parts. I don't have a prob with reman as long as the cores are original. I know, that's my problem...........

yes, actually i do. i think honda remans are held to a higher standard than the reman shops that supply pepboys and autozone.

I see by your location that your not far from me
, I put those on my wifes car (99si) and when coming down "the mountain" as we call it, there is very noticable brake fade. Master cylinder and rotors are stock,no groves in rotors. Have you noticed any brake fade with yours?
