Default Confused about what Size turbo?

I am the owner of a 1997 Integra GSR, my dad recently purchased a setup for a turbo kit for cheap(Intercooler, piping, turbo manifold, blow off valve, etc.) all the parts are great and are new, but I have one problem, i have no TURBO! I am shopping around for a good ball bearing turbo and am willing to spend up to $1000 on just a turbo. I heard a good t3/t4 ball bearing one would be a good choice but i'm hoping someone can guide me towards the right one...

Those are good turbos but not for the daily driver who wants little to no lag. expect serious lag below 4000 rpm. I'd rather get a T3 before I get the t3/t4 setup. KKK(Audi, Porsche,etc..), Mitsubishi(18G), and Garett(T28) makes great and efficient smaller turbos which will give you great power from idle to redline.

BTW the force induction forum will greatly help you.

HKS GT35R. It's all depend what you want. Low end power or high end power. small T3 spool quick and give you power right away but a T3/T04 can do almost the same depend on the turbo size. but a big T3/T04e will lag like a mother till it start to spool at around 4K maybe 5K and when that happen hold on to the steering wheel.

It all depends on your goals. If you are looking for the ideal turbo, there is a mathematical equation that you can use to plug in some basic engine parameters, as well as plot the turbo chargers compressor characteristics, and decide what you want based on your findings. Or you can go to http://www.turbocalculator.com and purchase their software program that basically does the math for you.

I have a t3/t4 and the lag isn't that bad. It starts spooling at around 3500-4000 rpms which is good for me because I can drive my car under those rpms and get the same GS-R mileage that I would get. It is true that once it kicks in, you better hold on but there are many things to do for increased traction (foremost good tires).
I just don't think that having a smaller turbo rather than a t3/t4 will cause more enjoyment over the other. It would be cheaper though. I don't know if those other turbos are ball-bearing, but it would be best to get a ball-bearing turbo.
