well im contemplating some pistons/rods/headstuds for my b18b, but im not gonna have money, especially right away to do any headwork. i know the ls head is not the best flowing, and has a tendancy to drop power after 6000-6500 rpms.
im looking for about 320 or so whp if i do this, which i was thinking will be 15-18 psi with my 57 trim t3/t4( my setup is capable of this, but i dont think my current block is), im just not sure if the head will really get in the way of my goals. what is everyone else out there doing???

I built a friend's LS motor more than 2 years ago, and it had only piston, rods and block guard. bone stock LS head w/ skunk2 manifold and made 417whp and 340 lbs.trq. to the wheels. Until this day, he's still running the same setup and running strong. Check out masetuning.com I think the car still on his website. It's the yellow coupe w/ carbon fiber hood. It was running pretty rich at some point like 10.1-11.1 afr. we could have made more if we did not run out of time. It was like 3 a.m in the morning.
It's the only LS motor setup that it's in the site. Everybody else running VTEC setup.

I have an LS with cp pistons, eagle rods, stock sleeves and ge blockguard. The head is stock and so is the intake manifold. At 18 psi it put down 354 whp and 309 ft/tq. I'm running the basic garret t3/t4 57 trim turbo with .63 ar hot side. This friday I'm going to have Mase retune it on race gas this time. Last time he tuned it I was running a 50/50 mix of 91 unleaded and 100 unleaded. I hoping I can make close to 400 whp with open downpipe and some leaded race gas. I'll post the dyno sheet after Mase tunes it.
Although the LS head does suck compared to a vtec head you shouldn't have a problem meeting your goal of 320 whp. I've heard of people putting down over 400 whp on the LS head. Goodluck on your setup.

walbro 255
3" downpipe and no cat

I have a feeling more and more 500+ WHP LS's will be surfacing. . .
With headwork, it's a bad-*** machine. . . more torque than you'd ever need, and plenty of horsepower to take over on the top end.
I'll sure drink to more 10 second straight LS's.

you could make that with pump 93 no problem assuming forged pistons and rods. A typical 54mm garrett or turbonetics would make that much around 20-25psi
