Ceramic Headers vs. Stainless Steel Headers
I've heard a lot of stuff about ceramic headers and stainless steel headers.
I heard stainless steel last longer than ceramic but they turn a purplish color after years of use.
Is this ture?

yes this is true, ceramic will eventually crack. The stainless header turns purple due to oxidation, but many people on here sand and polish their header to get back that stainless shine. however eventually it will oxidize again
i have a DC 4-1 ceramic, still looks new.
only problem, Dents REAL easlily.
i'd get a 4-2-1 next time.
well actually, next time will be a turbo, so i dont need it.
haha.
if you want it, i'll give it to you 100 shipped.
has 2 small dents underneath.

Ceramic Header rust real easy...
I have the JDM 4-1 DC Sports SS Header on my 01 Integra GSR and it takes about a week for it to turn kinda purple blue color.
Hey I rather have that color than a rusting header.

a little FYI. ceramic headers start out as stainless headers. no other steel would stand up and not be thin-wall. ceramic is the way to go. its worth the 50 extra bucks. you could get them almost as weather proof by using header paint. i have done it. i matched the dark blue of my chevelle. for about 2 weeks before it discolored. headers rust, it goes with the package. get ceramic headers and sand them back to new if you want. after about 4-5 eimes, you will wear through the thin ceramic coating. just let them discolor, its still better than a stock manifold.
correct me if i'm wrong. but i think Ceramic is cheaper then SS.
i personally like SS better. after a year it'll turn blue-purple and bronze, which i think looks pretty cool lol. but if you dont like that youc an simply wet sand it it and polish it back up. I've also heard people spraying WD40 on their SS header so then it wont turn that blue color, but instead it turns goldish-bronze.

Not true. Ceramic has nothing to do with the base header material. The header material could be stainless, mild steel, titanium, ect. Then, the ceramic is usually sprayed on the header and finally baked in an oven.

if your looking for the best performance posible, ceramic is the way to go and by ceramic its not ment that the header is formed for ceramic! what it is, is a special coating that it baked onto it. this coating increases the strength of the product and helps resist scratching and other damage, it also helps keep the ambient temp of the engine bay down (works like exhaust wrap for better looking). this will also help keep the exhaust presure higher, making the gases leave more quickly. now most ceramic coatings from factory come in either black or tan but there are places out there that offer better coatings then oem and in a wide variety of colors including chrome. http://www.jethot.com is one such servicer. this maybe a better option because depending on the company, your paying more for the service but the header is just mild steel.
if you dont really care about these things the finish on ss headers looks cool too with that pearlesent appeal to them.

SS dose turn color how ever depending on how thick the steel is and the ambient temps around them as well as duration of driving vary the colors shown.

wrapping a ceramic header would increase rusting and cause cracking 10x quicker

ceramic headers give you more horsepower.... the wrap traps the heat in and the hotter ur runners are the faster the exhaust flows.... the stainless steel headers allows the heat to seep out and ur headers dont stay as hot... i perfer ceramic headers
