Alarm remotes.. can they be fixed?
I searched the archives for "Clifford remote" and all i came up w/ was a question on Clifford remote starters.. so Im sorry if this has been asked before.. I have tried searching the archives.. on to my question..
I have a 5 button Clifford remote.. where i primarily use the large channel 1 buttton (arm/disarm).. the other 4 buttons work perfectly fine.. i can get a replacement remote at cost from my friend but thats still almost $40... do you guys know if i can just buy a switch from radio shack or sum electronic store.. and de-solder the old switch.. and solder in a new one?
the other 4 buttons work perfect.. just the arm/disarm button.. if this is possible.. and you've done it.. any part numbers.. or where i could find the switch/part would be appreciated..
thanks guys..

yeah i kno that.. but i also need button 1 so that i can put it in valet mode (shift+shift+ button 1).. thats why i would like to fix button 1.. that is what i have been doing.. using ch 3 to silent arm.. cuz sumtimes ill press button 1 and get no response..
the remote comes w/ lifetime warranty.. but i figure the cost of shipping and the wait for them to fix it.. then ship it back.. i might as well try to buy a switch and solder it on myself..
btw these things retail like $65.. damn...

If you can find a non working clifford remote, doesn't matter which gen then take the button of of it and transfer it to the working remote. This is what I do I've repaired mine about 4 times now. You can still buy the gen 3 remotes. I posted a link on HT a while ago on where to find them.
thanks for your response.. so the switches under the button are CLifford specific? damn i was hoping i could just buy a switch at radio shack and solder it on myself.. oh wellz.. it carries a lifetime warranty on my remote. .i guess ill ship it out then..
any1 else kno if u can just buy a part and solder it on?

I'm sure if you searched real hard you could find the switch clifford uses on there remotes. Expect to spend a lot of hours searching, unless someone knows here. There are thousands of different switches made, you will spend hours trying to find that one. Try digikeyfirst.Goodluck
