Default B20-Vtec

Who here is running the B20-Vtec. I'm interested in putting one in my car but I have questions...

1) is it reliable... with the vtec head(does it run good)??
2) does it love boost??
3) what do you need to install it in a 93 coupe (any major modification)??

thanks guys

1. Depends how well it was assembled (everything must be perfect just like at the Honda factory).
2. Depends on what parts it was built with (needs custom pistons & rods at least).
3. It's a bolt-in swap just like any other B series swap. That doesn't mean it's just Plug-N-Play though. The main difference is that your going to have to get completely custom ECU map & tuning. Their are many ways of doing this, but your going to have to research all of those, and figure out which one is right for you.

the sleeves on the B20 bottom end arent really strong enough for boost. Ive heard they are ok for all motor though.

CRVTEC is a great set up for all motor. If you want to boost it then put a GSR head and sleeve the block. Stock sleeves are known to crack at 7psi.

I have a crvtec with a t3 turbo running 12psi of boost all the time. the motor had about 10000 miles of na beating on it then turbo'd it and had no problems so far, it is all in the quality of the tune though. You should figure out a way to run a pcv valve on the b20 for naturally aspirated fun, if you go turbo use a puke can in the pcv valves place. I had a b16 tranhy on the b20 w/o turbo and that was alot of fun.. now I have a ls tranny with turbo the fun factor jumped exponentially with the turbo just my two cents though
