Default Bseries?? stock sleeves, forged pistons, billet rods... how much boost??

H series stuff is way different when it comes to boost, i know my stuff (mostly), but B series stuff seems to be different, i can remember some of you guys talking about nearly 20psi on stock blocks with forged pistons and rods... anyways, i've got a friend about to get a GSR swap into his del Sol, possibly even a B20/VTEC (we've got a GS-R engine for it, but it's apart, so he's considering going B20/VTEC)... anyways, what would we be looking at doing to build it for possibly 10-12 psi eventually, right not he will be N/A but definately wants boost, especially after riding in my Lude. he doesn't want to go to the extreme that i did, but he DOES want to safely (LMAO) run boost.... anyone have some good insight for a B series turbo newbie??

from personal experience 12 is max psi to go on a stock sleeved motor. I ran 15 and boom bitch, cracked the #3 sleeve after about 2 weeks. 12 i ran for months with no signs of problems.

detonation at 15 psi WILL crack a sleeve, hell it may even do it at 12. The chances increase exponentially as boost goes up.

some people are blinded by the fact that we have some lucky members here that can get away with stock motors and high hp and boost numbers, but realistically you can't.

it all comes down to tuning. i ran 20+ lbs of boost on a t3/4 turbo, stock b18c1 head and block. i was able to do this using the inlinepro 3mm headgasket, 440 injectors, fuel pump, afc, fmu, and race gas. the motor had over 160,000 miles on it and i drove it everyday. made about 360 to the wheels @ 20 lbs of boost on race gas and drove/raced it every weekend. on 93 octane, tuned rich, i drove it on 12 lbs daily.

using stock sleeves on a b18c1 block, added forged pistons and rods, built head, added engine management, bigger turbo, bla, bla, bla, made 509. sold it and the new owner made 560 to the wheels. stock sleeves. i drove that car to work like 2-3 days a week and raced it almost every weekend.

stock b series motor will hold boost if tuned correctly. that is a fact.

this is a topic that is hit or miss. Some pull it off some Don't

I had the AEM EMS tuned at jotech so there wasd no problem with tuning something just happened.
